Story Behind the Book
How can we understand the interpretation of the Quran? Some verses of the Quran interpret others whereas some from instructions of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). There is no ambiguity about these two sources of Tafseer. Another source of Quranic commentary is the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) Companions.
Among the most renowned interpreters of the Quran and scholars of Islam, is Imam ibn Kathir R.A. He wrote a Tafseer with the Arabic title
تفسير القرآن العظيم (Tafsir al-Quran al-'Adhim) which is famous with the title
تفسير ابن كثير. This commentary on the Quran supports interpretation with Hadith, sayings of Muhammad (PBUH), and sayings of the sahaba.
